Abstract: This dissertation has undertaken the responsibility of divulging into the topic of parenting and parental involvement. Through the primary research conducted and the secondary research discovered, a general overview of the topic has been written and presented through the medium of photography. The dissertation goes on to show viewers the change in parenting from one generation to another. Through the most critical part of the thesis which are the interviews conducted, one can see the bridge between what is said in the Contextual Review Chapter and what is seen in the practical. We live in a day and age where the possibilities around us are endless and rightly so. Getting a first person view into the world of parenting, one can see how truly things have changed. Past experiences are a part of each and every one of us but what occurs after life changing events is truly the pinnacle of parenting. The research conducted is proof of this point and the secondary research is further backed up by the primary research through in-depth interviews with medical staff and couples who are either expecting or are parents. The methodology section of this thesis, helped to solidify the research conducted. Sources were therefore backed by real life scenarios which we find around us every day. In the final part of this dissertation, I have presented a small publication depicting the research through the medium of environmental portraiture.
