Dan ix-xogħol jitfa’ dawl fuq il-ħarsa tal-poeta maskili lejn il-mara. Din il-ħarsa tista’ tkun kemm letterali u kemm metaforika. Permezz ta’ din il-ħarsa, il-poeta raġel jiddeċiedi jekk f’għajnejh il-mara għandhiex titqies bħala mara tajba jew mara ħażina. F’dan l-istudju joħorġu wkoll dawk l-aspetti li jagħmlu mara tajba u mara ħażina, pereżempju l-mara hija meqjusa tajba jekk tkun kwieta, issir omm, reliġjuża u fuq kollox sottomessa u passiva. Il-mara l- ħażina hi meqjusa bħala l-oppost tal-mara t-tajba. Għax tirribella, ma taċċettax li tiġi ddominata mir-raġel, hija indipendenti u fuq tagħha. Diversi teoriji femministi, fosthom dawk ta’ Simone De Beauvoir, Mar Wollstonecraft, Mary Daly u Julia Kristev ifissru aħjar il-għala l-poeta maskili jitkellem b’ċertu mod, u x’inhu dak li s-soċjetà tistenna mill-mara. Xi drabi jidher ukoll li hemm viżjonijiet kuntrastanti fit-teoriji femministi. L-ideat dwar il-mara t-tajba u l-mara l-ħażina ilhom ħafna jeżistu u ma jidhrux biss fil-poeżija Maltija.en_GB
