Abstract: The crisis surrounding Covid-19 has forced businesses to rethink the way they work. Employers and governments have an unparalleled opportunity to bring about restructuring of the workforce in order to maintain and expand flexibility in working arrangements into the future. This may yield improvements in terms of worker well-being and productivity, as well as environmental benefits. Against this backdrop, the Malta Business Bureau (MBB) commissioned this study whose scope is to examine the economic and environmental implications ofWork from Home (WFH), so as to identify measures that businesses could efficiently introduce into their daily operations, and to shed light on the average environmental impacts and savings these may imply. The study employed a mixed method research design including a review of the relevant literature and contextual analysis, an employee survey and a qualitative assessment of insights drawn from open—ended responses by high level executives.
