Abstract: Total Quality Management (TQM) povides an overall concept that fosters continuous improvement in an organisation. The dissertation focuses on H.JM within Simonds Farsons Cisk plc (SFC) with particular reference to the non returnable packaging process. It investigates the present situation at the company (process) and the actions required to have the company operating to TQM standards. This topic is tackled in view of the increasing number of competitors within the market who are putting pressure on the company. TQM provides a solution to enhance the quality of the company's products and services. The research tools used are a combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis. The qualitative approach was carried out with five managers at SFC with every questionnaire tackling a particular area of specialisation. The quantitative analysis was done by designing three questionnaires one for the management, one for the foremen and one for the shop floor. These questionnaires were cross examined and compared to TQM operating standards obtained through the literature review.
