Abstract: This thesis presents the analysis of a study on the environmental noise pollution of Malta. The principal objectives of this investigation are: (a) illustrate environmental noise exposure for two time periods of the day during the winter season, (b) identify regions in Malta associated with abnormal levels of noise pollution, and (c) investigate the spatial variance resulting from the geomorphological structure of the island. The thesis includes a preliminary classification of the Maltese territory in five different zoning descriptions according to Maltese regulations (i.e. industrial, residential, apartments, terraced, and out of developing zones).
