Abstract: Ring rot and brown rot are quarantine bacterial diseases of potato listed in the EC Plant Health Directive because both are capable of causing loss of yield through rotting of tubers and restricting international trade of potatoes. Neither ring rot nor brown rot has ever been recorded in local potato production systems.
