dc.description.abstract▪ Romania is a country with a high seismic risk and before 1963, when first seismic design code was used, the RC structures were designed only to resist gravitational loads mainly. dc.description.abstract▪ The aim of this study case is the Performance Based Seismic Design (PBSD) of a non-seismic RC moment resisting frame (MRF) (see Fig. 1a) before and after upgrading it. The upgrading consist of a global one (see Fig. 1b) represented by adding an inverted V steel buckling - restrained braces (BRB), by a local upgrade by confining with fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) the columns from the first two levels (see Fig. 1c) and a combination of the two methods (see Fig. 1d).
