Abstract: This thesis will be examine the employee performance measurement techniques used by ST(Microelectronics) Malta in evaluating its employee performance. The introduction will give a brief introduction of ST(Malta), its values and culture. There will also be a brief history of Performance appraisal (the main performance measurement tool) at ST. A Literature Review will follow which will include review of literature about performance management, appraisal, measurement techniques and also views of known authors regarding this involvement tool. The Research Methodology will evaluate the research methods used by the researcher in making the investigation about the subject. This will lead to the fourth chapter - Analysis of Findings. This chapter will first analyze how Performance Appraisal is carried out - through the Performance Management Model. Then the Performance Assessment Survey carried out by ST with a random number of employees is evaluated and statistics for 2002 and 2003 are compared. This will lead to the conclusion (Chapter 5) which will evaluate limitations of the study and give recommendation for further study. Moreover there will also be insights of what can be done by management to make better use of Performance Appraisal at ST.
