Abstract: Topic Overview: In this study, the importance of physical exercise in the aim of reducing the risk in developing type 2 diabetes mellitus is discussed. It is identified that a combination of a healthy diet and physical exercise, provides more optimistic results. Research Question: For middle aged people, does a daily 30-minute physical exercise session help in reducing the risk of developing type II diabetes compared with no exercise at all? PICO elements: The population used in this dissertation is middle aged people. A lifestyle consisting of a daily thirty-minute exercise is used as the intervention and compared with a lifestyle of no exercise at all. The final outcome of the research is used to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: HyDi was the main database used for the findings of the study. PRISMA framework was used to for article screening. CASP tools were used to determine the reliability of the studies found. Results: The studies included in this dissertation consisted of one systematic review and four randomised control trials (RCTs). From these studies, the results were quite consistent. Some studies added extra interventions which are discussed in this dissertation. Implication and Recommendations: These recommendations include, educating children and their parents in having a healthier lifestyle and implementing exercise and healthy eating at a young age
