Abstract: This study is not about some elusive Mediterranean type of teacher or pedagogy. It refers to teachers in Jordan, Malta, Spain, Morocco, and Melbourne but it doesn’t claim to be in any way representative of the teaching profession or the teaching experiences in any of these countries at any given time. Its scope is far more limited, far more circumscribed. It looks at four narratives, with a transcultural, comparative or intertextual element, that deal with teachers connected to the Mediterranean region. [Introduction]
