Abstract: Texts found on inscriptions and in archives contain a wealth of information for historians, archaeologists, philologists, linguists and other scholars and interested persons. Sooner or later, nearly everyone engaged in Baroque studies is confronted withinscribedtextsontombstonesormanuscripts. Editorsofsuchtextsmustrender them in an intelligible manner and use a standard format, such as that established by the Leiden Convention of 1931.
