dc.description.abstract | This dissertation 'An Integrated Approach towards Assessing Public Attitudes regarding Domestic Water Conservation in Zejtun and IlirkirkaJ.-a,' has been carried out for two main underlying objectives - fust is that, within the Maltese context, despite Malta being a major water scarce country in the world, water resources are not appreciated enough. Second, is that although water conservation methods are practised within certain parts of Malta, as a general rule, water conservation methods are not fully implemented. Thus, water conservation is an under-utilised technique. After introducing the notion of water conservation, and contextualising the subject within the parameters of the Maltese society, a literature review focuses on a number of meaningful implications related to water conservation, for instance reducing the water consumption levels by simple strategies and using a well. This expounds universal scientific principles, and later on these are applied within the local context. The next section focuses on the methodology. In this context both quantitative and qualitative research methods are going to be employed, so as to make sure it is scientific as much as possible. The results of the interviews of Zejtun and B'Kara are compared, so that one can assess research outcomes in objective critical terms. The literature findings are presented in the later chapters, and they are interpreted in line, with the literature review, and the mindset of the respondents themselves. Finally, the last chapter is a conclusion so as to round off the dissertation, highlighting a number of recommendations, so the effective water conservation methods can be effectively implemented within the Maltese context in the near future. | en_GB |
