Abstract: In the 1950's, broadcasting by Cable Radio (Redifussion) experienced a rapid growth both in Malta, as well as in Gozo. Local priests were already taking a very active part in several radio broadcasts. Controversies and criticism from political quarters did not lack. Other priests managed to ride over the wave of dissent. Some even succeeded to use radio as an effective springboard for socio-theological teachings and for promoting actions of solidarity within the community.
