Abstract: Data loggers are very commonly used in several industrial and scientific sectors. They are used to collect many kinds of data which is used for monitoring purposes, statistical analysis, experiments, and other activities. Data can be transferred onto a computer after attaching the data logger to it. The remote collection of such data entails the sending of data acquired by a data logger to another computer. The project consisted of creating a number of computer programs using Visual Basic 6.0 to enable the transmission of data from a Campbell Scientific 21X data logger onto a remote computer. In some cases transmission to the 21X data logger is also possible. The transmission medium utilised at the data logger end is a GPRS modem- attached to the same computer as the 21X data logger - which enables the data logging station to be sited almost anywhere.
