Abstract: Learning objectives: To illustrate the distinct radiographic manifestations of Aspergillus infections and correlate the appearances with the pateint's immune status to provide a useful framework for understanding these complex infections.
Background: Aspergillus species are ubiquitous fungi found throughout nature. Pulmonary infections are commonly caused by Aspergillus fumigatus, and have traditionally been classified into four categories: invasive aspergillosis, semi-invasive aspergillosis (Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis), saprophtic aspergillosis and allergic aspergillosis. Predisposed patients include those with pre-existing lung disease and those with an impaired immune system.
