| Abstract: | The reasons for choosing the title of my dissertation will become clear in my essay. Atheism is a most serious problem. After discussing contemporary atheism as a part, I propose to analyse its motives, roots and causes in one light of current literature and of the teaching of the Church. Vatican II in its document on the Church in the World Today (Gaudium et Spes) has underlined the importance of a clear attitude that should be taken by every Christian today who has at heart the well-being of humanity at large and especially of the Christian community. It is my hope that my short study on modern and contemporary atheism will prove to be a small contribution to this effect. |
