The humanity of Christ as a pattern of human activity

Abstract

In the beginning God made man to His own image and likeness. After His children were scattered, He decreed that should at length be unified again. It was for this reason that God sent His son, "Whom He appointed heir of all things", that He might be King, Priest, Prophet the head of the new and universal people of the sons of God. Christ is the "Image of the invisible God", He Himself is the perfect man. By His incarnation the Son of God has united Himself with every man. He worked with human hands, He thought with a human mind, and He loved with a human heart. Born of the Virgin Mary, He has truly been made one of us, made like us in all things. With St. Paul we can say that, "We have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, without sinning". The threefold aspect of Christ as King, Priest, Prophet could be to light from Scripture. The Old Testament, shows how the Davidic King, enthroned in Jerusalem, has been chosen to the the Lord's anointed. More than that, he has been adopted as the Lord's son, on the of His enthronement, thus He is unique among early kings, not because of David's conquest, but because of the supremacy of the God of Israel, This king by right is the ruler of the world [...].
