The essay will discuss the importance of traditional games, and their possible introduction into the primary curriculum. A comparative study of a selection of games, their possible origins and methodology of play, in the old days and until recently, is discussed in the first chapter. A discussion on the importance of such games vis-à-vis child development as well as their possible adaptation into the primary curriculum follows in the second chapter. The third chapter concludes the essay with a practical example of three lessons which I have given to a class in a primary school to show in a practical way how all this can be achieved.en_GB
