Abstract: | This article discusses the significance of helping students to develop effective reading strategies in the ESOL classroom. It analyses the reading skills that students need to master in order to develop competence in reading and the issues involved in enabling them to do so. It also illustrates how these skills can be developed by means of a series of teaching activities. |
