Abstract: The focus of this chapter is the language component in the teacher training programme which is provided to students who follow the B.Ed. (Hons.) degree at University and which prepares them to teach in primary schools. Prior to providing information about the language component in teacher training, an overview of the primary education system in Malta is provided followed by a general framework of the B.Ed. (Hons.) programme offered by the Department of Primary Education within the Faculty of Education.
