Internal Quality Assurance

The Further and Higher Education (Licensing, Accreditation and Quality Assurance) Subsidiary Legislation (S.L. 607.03) stipulates that higher education institutions “shall have the primary responsibility for the quality of their provision and its quality assurance” (Art. 36(1)). Moreover, higher education institutions should have in place an internal quality assurance system which is fit for purpose and which ensures full adherence to the National Standards as established by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA). The MFHEA describes internal quality assurance as a “flywheel of the whole QA process”.

The University of Malta views internal quality assurance as a catalyst for the continuous enhancement of its provision. This internal quality assurance information is being made public to ensure transparency and to increase ownership, with the aim of permeating a culture of quality to enhance the overall experience of our students.
